Commission Questions

  • What are your rates for game soundtracks?

I am not able to give a specific quote on soundtrack requests without first being given project details. Indie developers- please contact me with any soundtrack requests as I am primarily focused on making full game OSTs and am always agreeable to work something out! ♥ I am available for contracted work and longer term projects as well and can also provide SFX.

  • What are your rates for commissions?

My base rate for commissions begins at $150 USD per minute of music. My pricing on top of the base rate varies depending on the length, complexity, and purpose of the desired song. This is also the base rate I charge for seamless loops under a minute. I do collect payment up front in order to ensure that the commission is legitimate. I offer three free revisions with every piece. Revisions after the initial 3 will be an additional $75 USD and will be charged separately from the initial payment. Please note that I do turn down commissions if I feel that my style is not suited to a request or if I am uncomfortable with what I am being asked to do.

  • How should I ask for music?

When asking for music, I always find it helpful to have information on what the song is for / about, how long of a song you are looking for, what kind of genre you would like the song to be, and any reference songs you may have if you are looking for specific vibes!
Example: I would like an intro song for my twitch stream that loops. I'm thinking it should be about 1-2 minutes long. I stream a lot of older games, so maybe the song can sound like cool early Playstation music? I've added some links to songs that have the retro Playstation vibes I'm looking for. Please let me know if you are available to work on this!
We can always discuss details together if you are unsure of anything to ensure that you are getting exactly what you're looking for. Of course, if you are open to letting me go crazy or take the lead in direction, I am always happy to do so!

General FAQs

  • Can I use your music?

I am okay with the casual use of my music in animations, tiktoks, twitch screens, DJ sets, instagram or twitter posts, etc as long as credit is provided. Please do not use my music in any games or for any commercial or promotional purposes without contacting me first!

  • Can I cover, remix, or sample your music?

You are always free to cover, remix, or sample my music. Tag me so I can jam along! Please note that I don't provide specific stems or midi files for any songs as my files are usually all over the place!

  • Can we collab?

Send me a message or an email with some details of what you’re looking for! I’m always interested in providing vocals, but collabs that are solely instrumental are a bit trickier for me due to lack of experience.

  • Is your music allowed in geometry dash?

Yes! If the song is on Newgrounds, the external API usage has been turned on for all songs. You should be able to use them without any issues.

About Production

  • What do you use to compose music?

  • DAW: Studio One 5

  • VSTi: Omnisphere, Serum, Surge XT, TAL Noisemaker, TAL Bassline, Magical 8bit, Sforzando, and Synth1 are mainly what I use.

  • VSTfx: I use many of Studio One's preset effects in my work. I also frequent the DBlue Glitch plugin, Ozone, Nectar for vocals, and a lot of the other Izotope plugins.

  • Samples: Splice and Sampleswap

  • Hardware: JBL LSR305 Studio Monitors, Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Headphones, M-Track Solo Audio Interface, and an Alesis MIDI keyboard.

  • Vocal Synth: I use Vocaloid 5 and 6. I primarily use Rin and Gumi for my music.

  • How long does it take you to make a song?

It depends on a lot of things! I like to think I work pretty quickly when the motivation hits or if I'm excited to execute an idea, but that's not always the case. Some songs take me under 6 hours to make and master to a point that I like. Others can take me up to a few weeks to fully complete if they're really complex or if I need to put it aside before revisiting it to get some fresh ideas.

  • How long have you been making music?

I started actively trying to learn to use a DAW back in 2019. I learned the very basics but felt discouraged and didn't try again until 2021 when I began making and posting my first original pieces. Before using a DAW, I would use Mario Paint and FamiTracker for fun! I have played piano since I was younger, but I was never very good at it. I also play bass guitar, but am also not very good at it!

  • What are your inspirations?

  • Game Music: Bomberman Hero, Megaman Battle Network, Touhou, Jet Set Radio, Parappa The Rapper, Street Fighter, Tekken, Pokemon Black & White, Kirby (specifically Robobot), Scribblenauts, Ridge Racer, Monkey Ball, and more!

  • Composers: Jun Chikuma, Kikuo, Masaya Matsuura, Yuji Takenouchi, Maretu, Paraoka, 6410, CAPSULE, Hideki Naganuma, Metaroom, Floor Baba, Vertigoaway, and soooo many more!

  • Vibes: Retro futurism, early 90s jungle and deep house, spacey vibes, weirdcore and dreamcore stuff

Music Tips For Beginners

  • I want to make music, but how should I start?

I always feel so underqualified when I get this question, haha! I feel like the best advice I can give is based off of what personally helped me learn how to make music and feel more confident in my process.
When I first every started making music, I compiled all of my favorite video game songs into a playlist, found a free DAW that I felt I could understand, and remade all of my favorite songs by ear. I do not know music theory or anything about transcriptions or notations, so doing this helped me to get familiar with concepts like dissonance, chord changes, and progressions without the technical aspects. This also helped me figure out what genres I enjoyed working on and which genres I was not necessarily crazy about practicing. Remaking the songs also helped me to learn my DAW better, so this was a big help to me in a lot of areas.
Learn to be okay with not getting the sound you want right off the bat. I used to get very discouraged when I had a vision for a song but lacked the skills to be able to execute it properly. It sounds cheesy, but you need to keep going! If you can turn the discouragement into motivation to keep working at your skills, you'll make a lot of progress! I also recommend not limiting yourself to one singular genre or type of music. I originally only wanted to make orchestral and fun kirby-esque music, but ended up specializing in D&B, haha!
I feel like it's easy to get overwhelmed with DAWs, genres, VSTs, motivation, and all the other things that come with making music. My best advice is to pick a place to start and learn from there. You'll definitely know if you hate a DAW, an instrument, or a genre once you're working in it, but if you never start you'll never know!
Anyways, that's the best advice I think I'm qualified to give!

  • What are good DAWs and VSTs for beginners?

While I don't have the best recommendations for these things, I can tell you what I started with! I used a DAW called Mixcraft which was relatively inexpensive at the time. I'm unsure of the pricing now, but it was a good DAW with a neat and customizable layout, samples included in the program, and really good preset instruments and effects.
There are a looooot of free VSTs out there, but my favorites are Vital, Synth1, and TAL noisemaker. All 3 have good presets OR have lots of presets you can download for free. Magical 8bit is also a great free VST for chiptunes and has a simple layout!
